About

We live in a world that considers wonder, awe and excitement unsophisticated and rather childish. As children, we are enthralled by the amazingness of everything around us but as we grow up, we suppress that joy and awe until eventually we stop noticing it at all. A sign of being grown up is no longer getting emotional and excited.

The world is full of wonder. When we stop trying to look cool and just let ourselves enjoy it, the wonder opens up in every nook and cranny and often the most unexpected placed, whether it’s watching a butterfly flutter through the lush green forest-floor ferns near home or revelling in the excitement of duelling political campaigns on a small island in South Korea.

This blog is unapologetically optimistic and positive about travel and experiences and wonder. Sometimes these experiences are as simple as going for a walk. Sometimes they’re as extreme as flying half way across the world or running off the side of a mountain. But they’re always filled with moments, little or big, of wonder and anticipation of wonder.

Welcome to Anticipation of Wonder, a simple collection of personal scribblings that laughs off the bad and the sad and celebrates the joy of living.
